Help · Making Tax DigitalMTD quarters and filing with SUBMIT
Four quarterly updates a year, already assembled from your records — filed only when you type SUBMIT.
Check your quarters
- Open Making Tax Digital in the web app (app.subready.co.uk) or mobile app.
- Each quarter of the tax year shows a live status: in progress, ready to file, filed, or overdue — with its income and expense figures and deadlines.
- Or ask on WhatsApp — “which quarters are due?” — for the same live status in chat.
File a quarterly update
- When a quarter closes it becomes ready to file. Open it and review the figures — every number has a drill-down to the records behind it.
- Fix anything wrong at source first (an expense category, a missed paid date) — the quarter rebuilds automatically.
- Confirm by typing SUBMIT. Nothing is ever sent to HMRC without this explicit typed confirmation.
- The filed update is locked and archived under Submitted returns, with PDF/CSV downloads — your permanent proof of what was sent and when.
Who needs MTD, and when
- From April 2026: combined self-employment + property income over £50,000.
- From April 2027: over £30,000. From April 2028: over £20,000.
- Full background: the MTD 2026 guide.
Keep quarters accurate by habit, not heroics: receipts snapped when bought, statements uploaded monthly, payments recorded when they land. Do that and “ready to file” genuinely means ready.
